Succumbing to Desires and Arrogance

"It is narrated from Sufyan Ats-Tsauri (may Allah be pleased with him): Every sin that arises from desire (hawā nafsu), there is hope for its forgiveness. But every disobedience that arises from arrogance (takabbur), do not hope for its forgiveness. This is because the disobedience of Iblis originated from arrogance, whereas the error of Adam (peace be upon him) originated from following desire."
